It is interesting to see the path followed by successful people. Patrick Osei is a music producer, audio engineer, and entrepreneur. He followed his dream and was always interested to learn more and more about the music industry.
Find your passion
Since he was a child, Patrick played piano and it was lucky to be trained by the very famous keyboard player Margaret Mason. He has an idea about the music industry but as he grew up he was more fascinated about technology and how this is combined with music. He started in 2001 when he secured his first recording contract in the UK. By 2003, Patrick had a strong name within the UK Garage/Grime scene. However, he took a break between 2004 and 2008 to learn more about the business side of music and then launched ‘Hot Money Studios’ in 2008.
Talent is not enough
Of course, it is very important to be passionate about what you do and to have a pinch of talent. Patrick considers that hard work is the key to success and is way above being talented. Once you have a vision, you plan and then you need to be extremely disciplined and ambitious if you want to succeed in any domain, especially in music then the market is oversaturated and you really need to stand out from the crowd.
Discover your spark
Patrick’s advice for the young entrepreneur would be to work extremely hard and not to be discouraged because failure is part of the journey. Hot Money Studio has been successful and it is very popular among rap musicians in the UK because it had something to make it unique and special. They provide the major label sound, but at indie rates. Also, the whole team is focused on helping young singers to achieve their goals. It is really nice to hear Patrick telling us about how important it is for the business to see that people trust the studio to create the music they want to transmit. After working hard and being really focused on the final goal, the result will be visible. For example, Hot Money Studio was to be part of the top 40 UK hit record in the mainstream charts.
Be motivated
The journey to success is not easy, but if you surround yourself with the right people it can be very interesting. The founder of Hot Money Studio found his inspiration in people close to him like his dad for example and other big names who might sound very familiar to you such as Elon Musk or Gary Vee. Among other factors that helped Patrick reach his goals was the family. One of the most important days of his life was when his child was born and he became a father. A piece of advice, coming from Patrick, for the young entrepreneur would be to keep going and focus on the vision. Mistakes are impossible to avoid but they can be a lesson for you.
