Truls Aandal On Founding A Business Mid-Pandemic

Creating and establishing a business in the middle of a global pandemic isn’t on everyone’s to-do list. Meet the guy who made it.

Creating and establishing a business in the middle of a global pandemic isn’t on everyone’s to-do list. And generating a sustainable income source in the middle of it all is hard. Today, we meet with Truls Aandal – the founder of Your Marketing Partner, who established his marketing agency in the middle of the COVID-19 pandemic. He has a twist on your idea of a digital media agency.

The Business Model

YMP is a full-on digital media agency providing non-profits and Government organizations with social media marketing services, free of charge. The company came to life in June 2020, where Truls states that the idea came to him while on the train. The business focuses on trend advertising, instead of the traditionally paid media placements. This is because non-profits and government organizations often don’t work with big budgets for social media marketing.

Free But Profitable

– While we advertise that our services are free of charge, we wouldn’t be in business if we didn’t make money. A short time after our inception, we merged with the Entertainment organization VivaceHub in the United States. Our representation in the United States works with clients in other industries, ensuring that our business isn’t solely non-profit, Truls states.

– Offering pro-bono consultation and assistance to organizations bigger than ourselves is a way to gain the trust and image needed to succeed in a competitive digital media landscape, Truls states.

Challenging The Competition

Surely, starting a business in the middle of a global pandemic can’t seem like the brightest idea. The idea of providing a service that isn’t in top demand when it’s introduced was what intrigued Truls into making the decision of putting YMP live.
Seemingly, the idea has gone beyond expectations. In August 2020, YMP’s representation in the United States, announced the acquisition of gaming organization eRa Eternity, striking the deal right in front of other acquisition requests. The company didn’t have to ask for much attention to get its initial boost in the marketing world. While the stakeholders hold a combined 1.5 million followers on Twitter, getting the name out for a start was simple.

Strategically Creating A Bright Future

– When the world comes back to normal, there will be a great demand for social media marketing. We’ll be ready to pitch our offers and present ourselves as one of the companies that kept going throughout the entire pandemic. We portray ourselves as marketers that get results, despite what state the world is in. I believe we’ve done a great job so far, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds, Truls Aandal finishes.

We aim to simplify digital media and help those who need our help the most. By helping, we aim to make an impact, and amplify the voices of the change- and decision-makers around the world.
