Chemical peel expert Nidah Barber has done over 30,000 chemical peels over the last 12 years for clients from all walks of life, be it A-listers or ordinary folks. But beyond the impressive number, which is by far the greatest one an aesthetic professional has done, Nidah is most proud of providing clients a safer and more holistic option to what once was a feared chemical treatment. With her unique formulation, the expert has gained the trust and confidence of countless individuals, leaving a positive impact on the beauty industry.
Chemical peels have been around for years, but they were not widely accepted with warmth because of their reputation for being harmful and extremely abrasive on the skin. But Nidah says otherwise. Her famous peels, especially the SmoothPeel for the feet, have generated quite the buzz and even got featured on Insider Beauty and Refinery 29. Nidah’s chemical peels are known for being safe and gentle on the skin yet perfectly hitting all the right spaces. The treatment period is also minimal, with very little after-care required from the clients. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Nidah was one of the first to make chemical peel treatment available at home, amplifying that the quarantine was the ideal time for chemical peels as clients are less exposed to heavy activities or direct sunlight. Today, her professional home peel and two-step layered application is celebrated by many as it delivered effective results in the comfort of their own homes.
Furthermore, Nidah’s company, The Peel Connection, is the only specialized chemical peel company in the world. “There are no other places that only do chemical peels. They offer facials and other services. I only offer chemical peels. And I am the first company to offer a two-step professional home peel application to the public,” the chemical peel expert said.
Nidah began her journey in the industry over 12 years ago after receiving a chemical peel treatment herself and realized that it did more than get rid of her dead skin. “It was such an instant transformation to my face, seeing brightness and a smoother complexion, that I was hooked. I started researching all different types of chemical peels and acids. And then set out to become a licensed aesthetician only offering chemical peels,” Nidah shared. Over a decade later, she has scaled The Peel Connection into one of the most trusted chemical peel companies in the beauty industry.
Nidah said her long-term goal would be for The Peel Connection to become a nationally-recognized chemical peel company that offers peels for all areas of the body to a broader demographic. She also aims to destigmatize chemical peels by offering a safe, layered approach using moderate percentages of chemicals and acids in her formula.
“Chemical peels don’t have to be very aggressive to accomplish great results. My tip is to always start with the least invasive procedure on your skin. Chemical peels are a great way to get results without causing trauma to the skin,” Nidah said.
Being an entrepreneur also inspired her to empower others who want to build their brands, emphasizing that one should always welcome new knowledge and change. “When you are open to learning more, things can only progress and get better. If you can make a person’s experience and results better or are constantly finding ways to do so, there is no way you can lose,” Nidah shared.
